Kanchanaburi War Cemetery is a very well maintained cemetery, it contains the remains of 6,982 Allied prisoners of war who perished during the construction of the ‘Death Railway’. Its tranquility reminds the visitors of the war and its after-effects.
We will also visit a museum nearby, it puts on an exhibition of history of the Thailand – Burma railway from the invasion of the Imperial Japanese Army, planning and construction of the railway, its geography, living condition in the camps, medical aspects, summary of deaths, operation, bombing and end of the railway, as well as aftermath of the war.
